My Project

Many of our microscopes are decades old and are becoming challenging to repair. Because of the age of these microscopes, many of the replacement parts are no longer available. Having access to newer microscopes will give our students to opportunity to be able to observe cellular structures with increased clarity. We are requesting 4 new microscopes for our middle school lab. Our goal to is to slowly replace our classroom microscopes overtime to help give our lab a much needed makeover. We are starting by replacing our oldest microscopes first, which are over 50 years old!

By having newer microscopes, it will not only make them easier to maintain, but it will also help our students to be able to make clearer connections between their observations and the material they are learning in class.

Students will be using microscopes of observe the differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, observe cell structures in living specimens and document the phases of both mitosis and meiosis.

My students are enthusiastic learners, who love science! I want to continue to fuel their love of science and help inspire the next generation of scientists.

Ms. Reilly will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 2.
