My students need the extensions to MicroBit to connect programming to the real world.
This project expired on August 6, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are special because they blossom with imagination. I work in an inner-city school system with students whose eyes light up when they are learning.
Do you remember when you were younger and you would just be creative?
You may have built something in your basement or taken apart something because you were curious what it did. I want to give that opportunity to my students. All students should have the opportunity to be the next innovator. You never know who is going to create the next new piece of technology. It could be a 10-year-old kid.
The Micro:Bit extensions will help my students expand their programming to having a light bulb turn on, creating music, designing a pedometer, and more. In the fall we do a unit on renewable energy. They could program these to create a fan to move. This would help them to understand how a wind turbine works. The extensions to the Micro:Bit allow them to take what they have learned and expand it to big projects. The students can learn how to program their Micro:Bit to take the temperature of their location when they are studying weather. These extensions allow them to program things that they could apply to real world situations. These great extensions is just what my school needs to push their learning to great heights.
