Help me give my students the ability to look at items and organisms at a microscopic level using the usb microscopes. The projector and the document reader are for explicit instruction during class.
I work in an alternative high school for students that have social-emotional disabilities. These are students that have difficult times being in a regular high school for a variety of different reasons. These students often come from low-income families and have had a lot of trauma in their lives.
My students often times feel left out of high school programs or feel that they are not as important as regular high school students since they are in a separate school.
My goal is to bring programs that they would do if they attended the regular high school and get them more involved with the high school community.
My Project
The projector and the document reader are for providing explicit instruction to my students. The way my classroom is setup, the lab bench that is my desk blocks more than half the white board in my room. If I were able to get the document reader and the projector I would be able to provide explicit instruction on how to format graphs and how to complete science math problems without having to write on a small, portable white board. With the microscopes I would also be able to enhance class demonstrations by providing students with a close up look at the activity that I am doing.
Currently in my classroom we have no microscopes available to the students.
Due to working in an old building, we also do not have access to enough outlets to power microscopes. The usb microscopes will allow my students to see and interact with microscope organisms and structures to enhance their learning. We have enough chromebooks in order to have in depth science lessons.
