My students need sculpture blocks to meet the art standards for their grade level. Our art program was cut so we'll integrate art into our language arts and history time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Eighth graders are proficient with computers, video games, and smart phones, but can they create an original sculpture? It's a goal in the state visual arts standards and since our art program was cut I need your help to provide the sculpting materials.
In August I'll be teaching 8th grade for the first time.
My students are the big brothers and sisters of the second and third graders I taught last year. Our K-8 school enrolls a majority of Hispanic students and many students receive free or reduced lunch. We're a small school with a small budget, but big on teacher and student dedication.
My Project
Without an art specialist most classroom art tends to be a watercolor or tempera paint project. Not our project. With your donation students will each receive a beginner's sculpting block to create their own original sculpture. As the classroom teacher I'll first get training from the artists I know and then seek to inspire my students. My students will increase their skill in creating art, will analyze and interpret design elements, and may be inspired to pursue a career in art!
Education is more than Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.
ART is integral to the human experience. This donation will provide a unique opportunity for students whose families could never afford an art class with this type of art material.
