Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all come from a high level of poverty. The entire school gets free breakfast and lunch daily. The children come each day ready to learn and grow.
Their parents want them to be successful and do their best to provide everything they can for their children.
They lack the basic supplies only because they can't afford them not because they do not want to provide them. We are a school that focuses on solutions to problems! "We can do it!" is our daily phrase on our announcements.
My Project
We are using computers to take our Istation assessments this year. For our young children taking the test without a mouse or headphones is proving to be nearly impossible! In fact while a co-worker and I were signing me up for Donors Choose we even had a hard time using a computer without one!
Our children are not able to show how much they know because they can't use the touch pads to click and drag items!
This will allow us to see what they know without having problems with the computer to factor into the results. The headphones will allow them to hear the instructions clearly so they have the best chance to be successful.
