I teach the integrated arts to students in kindergarten through fifth grade, though I am primarily certified in music education.
Through music, visual art, dance, and drama, we explore creativity, build teamwork, and develop a strong work ethic.
I design my curriculum to allow students to explore a wide variety of instruments and expose them to a wide variety of music styles and diverse cultures.
My school is located in a rural area. We have 504 students in grades K-5 and 47.7% qualify for free and reduced-priced lunch.
My Project
I am requesting microphones, mic stands, and an amplifier to help my students become more confident singers. I am beginning to integrate the Little Kids Rock curriculum, and we will have more opportunities to perform as soloists or in small groups.
With real microphones and audio equipment, my students will feel like rock stars and the most timid student may have a little more courage to jump on stage and sing!
We will also practice our role as audience members and learn how to give positive feedback. We will encourage each other to continue growing our musical skills.
This equipment will be used in my classroom and can also be used for school-wide performances. The amplifier can be used for microphones and also instruments like my guitar, ukulele, and keyboard. I often use these instruments to accompany my students. All students in my school would benefit from this audio equipment.
