This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, outgoing, and eager to learn! They absolutely love to engage in various projects, think outside the box, and overcome problems with solutions. They usually come to school each day ready to try new things and learn all they can. In order to grow personally and academically, we will have to overcome tons of obstacles!

Many students in my classroom come in to learn about digital design, photography/videography, and web design.

Usually they have difficulty completing assignments because of a lack of supplies and resources. Our school is based in the heart of Little Haiti. With how learning in and out of the classroom has become, adapting to this new way of learning will be difficult with limited supplies and resources.

My Project

Many of my students love creating videos. My class does not have a way for the students to create quality videos with matching audio. In class we use a lot of other digital design and videography resources such as our cell phones to provide the opportunity for the students to learn in the classroom comfortably and complete activities/projects. It also helps to build the self-esteem that they need. Adding a microphone will assist in teaching students on how to create voiceovers and undertake virtual interviews. This will allow them to practice on their own, get comfortable and then edit the videos and voiceovers into the software provided in class. They would also, they be able to learn how to create marketing material for the school. As they progress, they will be able to do team and independent work to build their skills as videographers and to be able to practice socialization around the school. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but the school culture as well.
