Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Nothing inspires learning in my students like the creativity that comes with singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments in music class.

My students in North Minneapolis are vibrant, energetic, enthusiastic, and full of love.

Over 90% of my students identify as African American and come from a low-income background. My school is Title I with 100% of its students receiving free breakfast and lunch. My students describe the school as a safe place and as their home. We are indeed one big family where everyone is loved, cared for, and taught to be the best that they can be.

My Project

Each year my students are excited to participate in their school-wide music concerts. Concerts are highlights of the school year and are enjoyed by all of our students, families, and staff members. They are wonderful learning experiences for every person involved, whether they are performers or listeners.

Having new, quality sound equipment will help make my students' performances truly sparkle.

New speaker stands and a cable snake are integral to the completion of our music program's sound equipment needs. They will help to ensure high-quality performances and listening experiences. This new equipment will also enhance the listener's experience throughout our concerts and will help the children's abilities to shine.
