This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a diverse group of 68 students in a small, rural community. We have 31 girls and 37 boys from all walks of life in our room. My students are some of the sweetest, smartest children I have ever met.
My 4th grade students need to be actively engaged in all content areas.
They are hard workers and want to learn. They enjoy working in small groups, STEM activities, online technology, and playing educational games. Not only do they strive to do their best, but they also always try to encourage one another as well.
My Project
This project will provide my students with materials they need in our classroom. The chairs will allow me to meet with two additional students at our teacher table during small group instruction. This means I can meet with more students each day. The clipboards will allow students to easily make up work that they missed. The paper, pencils, and pencil sharpener will allow my students to focus on what they are learning instead of what supplies they do not have.
Many students come to school without basic school supplies.
This can be embarrassing and frustrating for them. I want every student in my classroom to have access to what they need in order to be successful.
