My Students
My students are incredible. The majority of them come from low-income households and face multiple challenges before even making it to school. They deserve extraordinary teachers and an extraordinary school experience. I strive to give that to them.
My students inspire me every day with their determination, positivity, and kindness.
It is not uncommon for one of my students to be a main source of income for their family. Often, my students are responsible for getting their siblings ready for the day and to school. They might have an incarcerated parent or live in a divided household. Despite all of their challenges, my students strive to make their dreams come true.
My Project
In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, more of my students than normal are lacking basic materials and are not having their needs met. This project will help me provide basic school materials so my students can access their education. Lacking pencils, notebooks, binders and organization skills places a barrier between them and success. I also asked for mints for positive reinforcement when students do well. They respond very well to this small reward. The cups are going to be stored in my classroom so students can fill them up with water if they don’t have a water bottle. This will prevent distraction from being thirsty and repeated trips out of class. Overall these materials will help my students academically and emotionally.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
