I am an ELA teacher and I feel strongly that part of my responsibility in that role is to help my students understand the world around them. With an iPad and TV, my students can be transported through history and skype with a Holocaust survivor after we read Night by Elie Weisel. They can see that their dreams can become a reality by interviewing successful people in the fields they are interested in. Maybe they will understand what it means to be empathetic. Technology provides my students with a window to corners of the world that they might not ever see otherwise. As their teacher, I feel it is my duty to help them discover as much as possible.
