My Students

Our middle school is 1 to 1 for students in fifth-eighth grades. Students have learned to be digital users of information and devices. Our students still love books and read at a level that even impresses a teacher-librarian.

I purchased 120+ copies of the book, The Incredible Events in the Life of a Cactus.

My plan is to have as many students read this book as possible. The entire seventh grade read the book to start the school year and the sixth grade is planning on reading it in the next month.

My Project

Reading a book that you enjoy is a great experience, but then getting to meet the author is the cherry on top!

I have 120+ copies of the book, The Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus.

Full grade levels are reading this book, with the expectation of then interacting with the author. Students love listening to where the author gets their ideas, their writing process, and just simply knowing a little bit more about who they are.

I am requesting funds to have a virtual author visit. I have found author visits to be very rewarding - especially when a large audience of students have read their books.
