My students need magazine subscriptions and flashlights to help explore media literacy concepts and equip my students to digest the news in a comprehensive way.
I teach in the same rural school district I went to school in many years ago. All my children have also graduated from the same school district. My life is invested in this small East Texas community, where over 65% of my students are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Our school serves free breakfast to all students in an effort to make sure they have a good nutritional start.
I love my class and want to do everything I can to help them be the best that they can be!
I have a very diversified class. Because of this diversity, I MUST diversify my teaching style. The students in my class face many challenges both at home and in school. It is often difficult to motivate my students to learn, but I feel honored to be able to call them my students. I will go to "Infinity and Beyond" to motivate and engage each and every one!
My Project
Our project is requesting subscriptions to Highlights For Children, Zoobooks, Ranger Rick, Jack & Jill and different flashlights. My students need to learn how to analyze different types of print to learn how to make informed decisions and become problem solvers.
I want to teach my students how to analyze information and make sure they have the materials to succeed.
These magazines and the flashlights are the perfect student-friendly items that will promote a love of learning. We are going to use the flashlights for "Flashlight Fridays!" They will be able to read with their flashlights for a special Friday treat! The magazines will enable me to teach media literacy with my students.
