Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from my school come from very diverse backgrounds and bring many special qualities to my school. As a Title I school, many of our students are eligible for free and/or reduced-priced lunch and often lack the basic supplies necessary to be successful learners.

While we are all different, we have much to learn from each other.

Students at my school come from rich backgrounds, which is helpful for learning and sharing knowledge. However, students at my school lack background knowledge as their own personal experiences may be limited to to their families socio-economic situation.

My Project

Our school's Media Center is outdated. Most of the books in the Media Center are from the early/late 80s when the school first opened and aren't relevant to the lives of our students. With all the excitement and joy books can bring, providing books that students can choose, check-out, and read will allow them to make connections!

My goal is to put some good books in the hands of our students!

Most students at our school have not had the opportunity to check-out and read a book of THEIR choice. Many students also lack the background knowledge needed to be successful learners. With some good books, students at my school will be able to spark passion, enjoy reading, grow some dendrites and learn!
