Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Measuring tools are used in our daily lives in cooking, linear (distance), temperature (body, oudoor/indoor) and time. I would like to give my students the opportunity to explore these devices in a safe and controlled environment.
They have previously shown interest in cooking (we made pizzas) and I would like to expand their cooking experiences.
We use pull-back cars to race and learn positional words (near, far, under, over). By using the tape measure, we can learn to measure the distances. During our calendar time, we have started graphing our ever-changing weather. The classroom thermometer will add a more precise gauge of the temperature outside our classroom.
Measuring devices will help concrete the use of numbers in our daily lives and have fun doing it!
