Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an amazing group of kindergarten students. They come to school each morning for the love and safety they feel in our classroom. It is exciting to watch the lightbulbs turn on in their heads when they grasp a new skill. As their teacher, I want to provide them with all the resources they need to be successful in our classroom.

Hands-on math manipulatives will help my students comprehend abstract math concepts in concrete ways.

Together, my students and I will use the demonstration ten frames, magnetic counters, and unifix cubes during whole class instruction when I introduce new math concepts. These large manipulatives are easy for the children to see while sitting on the classroom carpet. Once I have demonstrated how to use the manipulatives, my students will work individually or in small groups with their own materials.

Hands-on learning is an important part of the kindergarten experience. My students will benefit from these meaningful math manipulatives!
