I teach students in Kindergarten through 5th grade in a Charter School located in Las Vegas. They are in love with STEM lessons. They look forward to learning and creating something new each week. At our school, we teach our students all aspects of S.T.E.M. We teach them the engineering design process, how to explore, create, test, design and improve.
Students in our elementary school program are encouraged to discover and develop their talents.
Our school has a thematic approach to integrating core areas of study such as mathematics, reading, language arts, writing, science, and social studies.
My Project
We love STEM and we would like to put a little extra fun in our STEM challenges this year! I am requesting a few sets of HEXBUGS for our classroom. HEXBUGS are miniature robots. In this challenge, students will be building mazes for their bugs to go through. They will be challenged to build mazes that include obstacles, angles, tunnels, overpasses, underpasses, and other elements that will be built on a mat. Once the maze is finished, students will then time their bugs as they make their way through the obstacles and collect data. The fastest bug wins the race!
What a fun way to apply math concepts and learn about data collection and the engineering design process!
