This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My eighth-grade mathematics classroom consists of 80 students. Each of these students has demonstrated as of the first day of school their eagerness to learn. Some of these students come from single-parent households. Other students are being raised by other family members. My class is a multicultural classroom, meaning that various nationalities are represented. My students have various learning disabilities as well.
As stated previously, I will service 80 students from various backgrounds, including students from Africa, Spain, America, China and other regions of the world.
In an effort to provide all students the best possible learning experience, they will be taught in some instances in a different language.
The benefits of attending the Pathfinders Summer Institute will allow insisting on how I can effective teach my students mathematics through the use of technology. The information gained from the summer institute would allow my students to create and share information and projects with their classmates. As students will learn from this innovative educational stream, it will serve as a form of assessment to assess their understanding of various mathematical skills.
Scratch Creative Computing would allow my students to reach a new level in the mathematics educational journey; my attendance at the Pathfinders Summer Institute would aid not only my students but others in attaining this new realm of learning.
An advantage to attending this summer institute is to gain knowledge from various domains of our country. As this professional development will encompass educators throughout the United States information, innovative ideas and teaching strategies will be shared to implement in our classrooms.
