This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have been amazing through these tough times. They miss school. It's been great to see them get excited to attend our zoom daily sessions from their home.
My students live in a low socio economic suburb of Los Angeles.
100% free or reduced lunch. 85% Hispanic/Latino.
My Project
There are amazing VR programs to help students see Mathematics in virtual reality. They can see what velocity and acceleration for themselves. Area and Volume. All of the problem solving can come to life. I envision students working on an application problem, using Desmos to see it on their screen, and then stepping into Virtual Reality to see it all around them. I think this could be powerful in their experience. I have done tons of research on different programs available. One such program is Kerbal Space Program, where they try to land a rocket ship on the moon...AND come back to Earth!
