This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help give my students a great learning experience in high school mathematics classes. An Elmo Document Camera in the classroom to model important geometric concepts is essential. A new printer will also ensure our worksheets are clear and legible.

Our school serves a wide range of students, with several falling into the low-income, at-risk category, and for this reason I do the majority of our work as hands-on activities and not through a computer screen.

I tend to give worksheets that they can follow along as I teach them through the document camera. I want every child to succeed in this very important course of high school geometry. The skills taught here will help them go on and live a productive life in society. They need to know basic geometric concepts to build foundations for their future.

Having a document camera ensures I can model the concepts for the day and helps students focus on the material in front of them. They are also able to come and do problems in their own handwriting when showcasing their work. A laser printer will ensure I can have clear and legible worksheets at hand for students. Also, ⅔ of my classes are English Language Learners. I want them to see and model the math concepts in class in a visual way to help them learn the language in an easier manner. Thank you all for helping these students get a better understanding of the math concepts that they will be learning this year.
