My Students

Our school serves a high-poverty population, with 99% of students qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program. It is a K-5, Spanish Dual Language school, and serves a high number of English Language Learners.

Despite the everyday challenges that these students face, they come to school each day ready to learn and grow.

The students that I work with are energetic, creative, collaborative, critical thinkers who have a strong desire for knowledge. They deserve and need opportunities and access to materials and experiences that other children receive.

My Project

My students have been working on persevering to solve challenging math problems this year. They love learning and being challenged! Beast Academy is a rigorous and fun math curriculum that combines reading and mathematical problem solving. Students study mathematical concepts by reading a guide book that is written in a comic book style. Then they get an opportunity to solve problems based on the concept of study. These problems promote discussion, creativity, and a joy for learning.

By helping my students purchase these Beast Academy resources, you will support providing them access to an enriching and challenging set of math problems.
