My students need office supplies such as assorted pens and whiteboard markers, 3 hole punch and labels, to bring color to their notes and projects, and let their creativity flow in math class.
I work with an amazing staff and students at a very diverse, high poverty rate school. Many of my students face struggles both inside and out of the classroom. Often the students I see have typically struggled with math and need additional methods to help give them a deeper understanding. All of my students want to learn, but not all have the confidence and belief in themselves to get them through the hard stages of learning complex concepts. I am excited to find different methods to engage and excite my students about math.
My Project
My wonderful Middle School students are diving into complicated math concepts and having colorful tools, like colorful pens and whiteboard markers, help their brain to make connections and see mathematical concepts and make deeper connections. The organization tools, like the three hole punch will help my students have greater success with organization, and the label maker will help my classroom have more clarity with the tools that are provided around the classroom. The mathematical standards for Middle Schoolers are extremely challenging and offering my students any advantages, such as the tools mentioned above, will help my students have a greater chance at success.
