My 13 and 14 year old students come from a high poverty school. We don't have the funding to buy materials that would help them in the classroom, such as calculators. The students want to learn, but face learning challenges and road blocks that cause them to get behind. Math manipulatives would help them to see math more clearly and through different facets allowing them to focus on the higher level math skills for 8th grade.
