Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In all the math classes, our school is trying out practices from Building Thinking Classrooms. One of the practices is to have students write on non-permanent whiteboards. I started to take pictures of every vertical whiteboard with my phone to easily show & share with the class all the different strategies or methods that were used when answering a question they've never seen before. After taking the pictures, I would email the files to myself, wait for the email to go through, download the files (if the Internet connection doesn't cut out!) before we return to a whole group setting to review our work.

Students learn best when they learn with and from their classmates.

We know how precious every second is when we are with our students. This laptop will help with sharing these files to the board quickly, which means we have more time for class discussions. This year, my students will be taking center stage. Students will be taking photos of their vertical whiteboards. The students will be presenting their work from their vertical whiteboard when it is projected on the main board.

In one of the units, my students become the teacher and they get to teach a lesson in groups. My scholars will be using this MacBook to present and teach their classmates. I know that my students will treasure this laptop. All the files and math work that gets saved on this device will make it feel like a digital math notebook!
