This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help bring math to life and create a high level of interest in math concepts for my second grade students.

I work at a title 1 school in a class with wonderful students who love to learn and use different types of math counters.

Unfortunately, most of my students do not have any math counters or supplies at home to help them practice there math skills. Therefore, it is vital to give them as many different experiences in my classroom so they can attain math skills and concepts easily. Hands on math counters are crucial to use when teaching math to young children. They are essential in forming a conceptual understanding of the math skills that second students need to know in order to be successful in second grade and beyond.

My Project

These math materials will help my students develop a better understanding of the essential math skills that are necessary to have in life. They will be able to use the math calendar, fraction kit, geometric shapes, counting blocks, and hundreds chart on a daily basis. My students will be able to use these materials individually, with partners, in small groups and as a class. These math counters will allow my students to practice their math skill everyday.

These materials will give my students additional exposure and opportunities to practice their math skills.

These math supplies are essential for my students to have in order to truly understand and be able to apply math skills to their everyday lives.
