My Students

My students are full of energy and eager to learn.

They learn best when they are able to be a part of their learning. Giving them opportunities to use hands on materials is a great way to invite them into the learning world. My students enjoy working not just with me (teacher), but their peers. My school is a great place to be with passionate educators. We are working towards building our math program and ensuring students are concrete with the grade level skills before moving to the next grade, but do not always have the funding for materials needed. My students learn best when they have manipulative's that they can use. It makes the concept more concrete in their minds and in return, provides them with a better understanding!

My Project

Hands on Math Stations: My students will be able to work on math skills that align to the Kindergarten standards for our state. I plan to create organized math station tubs that students will work out of daily. Each day after our math lesson, students will complete an activity that reinforces the skill being taught for the day/week. Students will rotate through five different stations each week. Each group will be working on a different skill. This will allow students to work in small groups and independently. These stations will consist of hands on materials that will provide students with a fun, interactive way to practice and learn each math skill. For example, using the base ten stamps to show a given number. My students learn best by doing! These stations and materials will allow them to "do" and for me (as the teacher) to assist those who may need it!

This project will help my classroom by giving my students the hands on materials such as Button Sorting Center, Place Value Blocks, Dominoes, Base 10 Stamps Set they need to help them understand the math skill being taught.

These materials will allow my students to be a part of their learning. They will develop a deeper understanding of the concepts that align with the Kindergarten standards.
