Math Tools for My Jewels

My Students

My students are excited learners who enjoy learning every day. They see school as an exciting place to be, and rich STEM and calming materials can keep them engaged in their learning on a daily basis.

We are in a Title I school with an abundance of childhood trauma.

A majority of the students receive free and reduced-price meals. Many students are very low academically and are at risk. Many students receive different type of services such as reading intervention, English Language services, Special Education, counseling and weekend food bags.

My Project

Research has shown that kids engage more with math when they have the opportunity to use hands-on tools with strategies and when they have access to models. The Rekenreks, STEM bins, and manipulatives would be used during our whole group, small group and individual learning to get my students excited about learning and more engaged during our math lessons.

The math tools would improve my students' learning because they would allow for hands-on interactive activities that would be engaging to my students.

The tools would create an environment where my students would work together in collaborative and independent groupings.
