Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working, energetic learners. They love to participate in small group activities and complete tasks on Chromebooks that reinforce the skills we have been working on in first grade.

Despite many home life challenges, my students arrive each day with a bright smile and optimistic view of school.

They love to share both fiction and non-fiction stories with the class, fill each others buckets and learn together. I encourage my students to share their ideas, problem solve and teach each other in the classroom.

We are a room of authors, mathematicians, scientists, poets, teachers and learners that would appreciate any donations to further help our learning!

My Project

I am currently trying to go green and save paper! This is extremely beneficial for the students because many come from homes where supplies are not easily accessible. Families cannot afford notebooks and other classroom supplies.

These materials will help engage my students in various first grade math activities.

Math is a subject that my students already love because they get to explore different scenarios using blocks, cubes, shapes and so much more. They would be thrilled to use, for example, their own personal Dry Erase Board to show their math work. The supplies in this project will also allow me to give students choice, as well as meet their individual needs. Ten Frame Foam Dice and Multicolored Ten Sided Dice will help my students complete addition/subtraction centers, which will improve their fluency. Additionally, the dice can be used in various build your own number activity to increase their knowledge of place value. We cannot wait to get started with these supplies!
