Flexible seating gives children an appropriate way to move and stay engaged in their learning throughout the school day. In addition to that, they are able to discover themselves as a learner.  This will help them throughout their school career and as they become a life-long learner.  Giving students in a low-income area access to flexible seating is in investment in not only their future, but ours. As I'm sure you are well aware, the educational demands placed on students can sometimes be overwhelming. This is especially true for students with special needs, who also battle different sensory issues that we often take for granted. The idea of flexible seating helps eliminate the extra sensory struggles some students encounter and helps them to focus more on their academics. For this project we are looking specifically at flexible seating that allows our students, who often need to be moving, the ability to do so. I believe, based on research and other teacher recommendations, that the 5 wobble cushions, 2 howdahug floor chairs, 2 exercise yoga chairs, and bouncy chair bands will allow my students to do so. Additionally, it will allow my students to be comfortable.
