Math Teacher Success Kits: Empowering 3–5 Classrooms from Day One

Help me give my students and their teachers math small group success kits filled with instructional resources and classroom essentials they can begin using immediately. These kits will help teachers create welcoming, organized, and engaging math learning environments.

My Project

The first weeks of school establish the foundation for an entire year of learning. As the Math Instructional Coach for our elementary school, I support Kindergarten through fifth-grade teachers in providing engaging, high-quality mathematics instruction that builds confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

This project will provide every K–5 teacher with a Math Teacher Success Kit filled with resources and classroom essentials they can begin using immediately.

These kits will help teachers create organized and engaging math learning environments while ensuring students have access to meaningful mathematical experiences from the very first day of school during their small group time.

Each kit will include items such as:

*Sticky notes for planning

*Colored pens

*Math manipulatives for small-group instruction

*Storage bags to organize supplies

*Incentive stickers

As the Math Instructional Coach, I provide ongoing professional learning and coaching. During my weekly PLC meetings, I model and work along side teachers to show them how to use the materials during their daily small group time. Strategies for multiplication and analyzing fractions are modeled heavily with the graph paper. Academic Monitoring is modeled through the use of incentive stickers to mark student work as teachers scan the room for student understanding. Pocket protectors are used to display student strategies on bulletin boards, and for students to have during small group time when problem solving. Sentence strips can be used for tasks like folding pieces to make fractional parts to identify equivalent fractions. The clicker/pointer is used to navigate through daily slides during instructional time as teachers walk around the room to monitor student work.

These Math Teacher Success Kits are an investment in every classroom and every child. The kits will help create engaging mathematics experiences for hundreds of students throughout the school year.
