My Project

In my 6th grade math classroom, students learn best when they can actively participate, share their thinking, and work together. A big part of our math block happens on the classroom rug, where students gather for guided practice, modeled strategies, and group discussions. Having a comfortable rug space and reliable classroom supplies will help create a welcoming learning environment where students can stay focused and engaged.

Whiteboards are used almost daily in my classroom.

Students use them to solve problems, show their work, explain strategies, and respond during instruction. They are especially helpful in math because I can quickly see each student’s thinking and give support right away. However, markers dry out, erasers disappear, and whiteboards become stained from frequent use. When students have to stop learning to search for a new marker, eraser, or another supply, it can interrupt their focus and cause them to miss important instruction.

With new rugs and classroom supplies, my students will have a comfortable place to learn and the materials they need to participate fully in math each day. These resources will help reduce distractions, support hands-on learning, and allow my students to focus on building confidence and growing as mathematicians.
