My Students

Have you ever learned something and then all of the sudden you see what you have learned everywhere in your daily life? These geometric shape related materials will help my first grade students realize that what they learn in math and science is everywhere!

My hard working students, who always go above and beyond, are from two wonderful First Grade Chinese-Mandarin Dual Language Program in California's public school.

Most of them are not Chinese, and can speak another language other than English or Chinese. This is their second year learning Chinese at school in different discipline/subject areas such as Math, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, and etc.

My Project

With these wonderful geometric shapes related materials, my students will be able to see and feel the different geometric shapes. They would not only be able to see and feel the different components of the geometric shapes and identify them around their environment, they would also be able to name them in both English and Chinese.

Geometric shapes are all around us.

We see them without even realizing that they are geometric shapes. Because they are so natural for us, it is harder for us to explain to the children what they are. It would be much easier if they have something solid to show them what they are and see the different characteristics of it. With these kits, the children will be able to learn this concept without a sweat.
