My students need individual whiteboards for math practice and a classroom wobble chair and chair bands for some flexible seating. Also looking for a class set of chair bands to keep those busy feet quiet.
A lot of people have the wrong impression of junior high students. In my experience, they are enthusiastic, fun, caring, and appreciative. I have the same students all through middle school, so I get to see a lot of big changes in their lives and in their educations.
These are some amazing kids to invest in!
Maybe I'm spoiled by my small town, farm kids, but they are a joy to teach every day. I truly have the best students. We are in the midwest and many of my students work outside of school hours on their home farms. These kids know the value of hard work.
Being a small district, funds are always super tight. We lost our art program a few years ago and will likely see other cuts in the future. We would all appreciate any help that was offered.
My Project
The wobble chair and chair bands on the list are both items I believe will help my students with special needs maintain focus. We are always looking for ways to help students keep their attention on their learning and items like these can be very effective. I know every student will appreciate having the chair band at their seat to be able to move their feet without disturbing anyone else in the classroom!
I want to give the students some fun new ways to do their math practice.
With the individual whiteboards on the list, maybe "showing their work" can be fun instead of a chore. Having boards both with and without the XY coordinate axis will help as we work through math examples. I love the idea of each student having all the supplies they need to practice our new concepts on their own. I plan to do some speed work on the boards as well because a bit a competition can often liven things up a bit.
