Help me give my students supplies for creating ice cream in a bag for our weights and measurements math unit. They'd also enjoy Otter Pop popsicles and drink mix packets to help them cool down in our heat.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I truly believe my terrific, inquisitive third graders are capable of reaching their academic goals. I love seeing their faces light up as they learn new math, science, and literacy skills.
My students live in and attend school in a high poverty area and many come from single-parent families who can't afford life essentials such as food, clothing, and shelter.
At our school, 100% of the students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite the challenges of poverty, they arrive at school eager and ready for the day's lessons and projects.
My Project
My awesome third graders have many new math standards to learn and master. I try to present math in ways that will be most memorable and easy for my students to practice and to retain the skills they've learned.
Ice cream in a bag is a great way to kick off our weights and measurement math unit.
Many of my students have little to no opportunity to explore academic skills beyond the workbooks and practice sheets. I love to present hands-on activities to help students learn and retain academic skills. For our math weights and measurement unit we will create ice cream in a bag. I am requesting Ziploc bags and ice cream salt. Most students don't believe it is possible to make ice cream in a bag, but love the end result-ice cream in a bag! I am also requesting gummi worms so students can estimate and measure to the nearest quarter inch. The popsicles will be used to estimate and record elapsed time, "How long does it take a frozen popsicle to melt?" And of course they'll get to eat the edible math materials.
Please help my students have a great 3rd grade math experience.
