My students need math stories to enrich their math critical thinking skills at the beginning of math meeting each day along with reasoning math prompts and daily number talks to enrich our math discussions in class!

My Students

Our students are a creative group of 8 and 9 year olds who love to learn. Our classroom is a unique environment. Learning is fostered and students feel safe and valued and take chances and risks in their learning.

Our third grade students are full of ideas and like to explain their ideas.

They enjoy working cooperatively and become engrossed in the activity at hand. A primary focus of third grade students is discovery and exploration. They are industrious, full of energy, and often exhibit curiosity.

My Project

These materials will be used at the beginning of our guided math centers each day. The math texts, number talk and math reasoning materials will help enrich and grow our daily math conversations and discussions when we are gathered at the rug together to begin each lesson. Students will be able to have a visual aid on our easel in order to process and picture everything we are discussing mathematically. These materials will also allow the lessons and discussions to be interactive as students will be able to come up to move the manipulatives in order to explain their thinking to their classmates.
