Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third-grade students are amazing! They are kind, helpful, motivated and are eager to learn how to be a successful citizen outside of school. As a teacher in a low-income/ high poverty school, our students are met with many challenges. Many students come from high poverty homes and face a language barrier. My hope is to ensure them a high quality, positive and rigorous education, regardless of their background.
My students LOVE coming to school each day because we make it fun and engaging.
When my lessons are hands-on and interactive, student engagement is higher than ever. I strive to create a classroom where students are on fire for learning.
My Project
I am requesting math activity stations for my third-grade students. By allowing students to work at their own pace, students are able to engage in various math centers that will help them in mastering our third-grade standards.
Math is my favorite subject to teach because it can be hands-on with manipulatives and games to foster a love of learning for the students.
The math activity stations that will be purchased will help develops skills in measurement & data, geometry, mathematical practice, money, fractions, place value, and time.
During our math time, students rotate through various math groups to work on the specific math skill being taught. These math activity stations will be my hands-on station that students can work at independently, taking ownership of their own learning.
