This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students are normally supplied with daily supplies when they come to school. There are other supplies that aren't always available for them to purchase at stores. With these supplies, students will have the necessary tools to help them with learning specific math problems.
A lot of my students are hands-on learners, and, with these tools, they can create the visual understanding themselves which will help to understand what they are learning.
Giving students hands-on materials will help them to understand how math works and make them more motivated in learn math.
The fraction tiles and the dominoes will help the students to visually see how fractions compare to each other and how to make equivalent fractions. The graph boards will be used when plotting coordinates. I will be able to show them how to plot, and, then, with the graphing whiteboards, they will be able to show me how to plot.
The dice games will be for the kids to create number expressions and use PEMDAS to solve the problems. They will also use the dice set to learn their multiplications. Each student will receive 2 dice, roll them, and multiply them together. The math posters will be resources for the students to refer to them when they are learning new math concepts.
