Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am an early childhood educator who spent most of my years teaching five- and six-year-olds in southeast Washington, DC. This year I will be working with three-year-olds. I am very excited about this change. Our school saw a need to expand our success to reach the younger population, and now I will be working with those very students. The physical space of a three-year-old program is organized into 11 interest areas. Each area will provide the opportunity for these students to develop, explore, and discover. We are in need of materials, supplies, and furniture to make this program a success. One of the materials I would love to add to my classroom is the Lakeshore Math Manipulatives Library. Our math center will be even more effective with the use of Lakeshore's Math Manipulatives Library. The students will complete puzzles, work with manipulatives, and have a variety of choices while learning important math skills. This hands on experience will enhance the math program and will open the door to a variety of math experiences. I need your assistance in meeting our goal of creating a successful three-year-old program.
