My Students

I have a classroom full of curious, creative students who love hands-on, engaging activities that push them to think critically throughout each part of our day. They always enjoy activities that get them moving around or encourage them to work together with other students. They are always ready for a challenge that allows them to think outside the box. In our classroom, our learning occurs through play. Because of this approach, we use materials that will benefit all types of learners whether they are tactile, visual, auditory, etc. We use the materials in our environment to follow the students' leads and make these concepts tangible and meaningful.

My Project

In the preschool classroom, there are endless opportunities every day to incorporate mathematics into our learning. Whether reading books, singing songs, or playing with our friends, there is always an opportunity to discuss math. While these informal math conversations are an important part of our day, we also participate in small-group and individual learning activities each day.

These materials such as ten-frames, translucent counters and patterning trays, will help students grasp important math concepts such as counting, sorting, patterning, graphing, adding, and subtracting.

During our large group, small group, and individual learning time, these materials can be used in so many ways that will help students develop these critical math skills.
