This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a year three Kindergarten teacher, this is not quite how I, pictured the 2022-2023 school year going. After the completion of last school year transitioning back from a virtual world, I was hopeful and excited to return back to school in the Fall with less restrictions. I was quite devastated when the decision was made for me to teach a new grade level. I found myself overwhelmed with anxiety and doubt about my ability to effectively teach my incoming students as I navigate a whole new curriculum. It seemed an impossible task as I become comfortable teaching kindergarten .However, I soon discovered I enjoy teacher older children. My students are brilliant; they are adjusting, adapting, learning and becoming independent learners. They are truly amazing! Not only have they met expectations, but also have far surpassed them. This year has been difficult, but as I observe my students persevering in the midst of many obstacles, I am inspired to do the same! This is our year for growth and we are learning invaluable life lessons together.
