Math Manipulatives for Mrs. D

My students need math manipulatives like geometric shapes, a fraction flip chart, mini clocks, and a multiplication machine game to help them excel in math.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Chastain's classroom raised $354

This project is fully funded

My Students

The ending of school last year was traumatic, and ended abruptly due to a tornado. Our school was just blocks from the tornado. My hope is to have my class set up with exciting new manipulatives and experiences to ensure that school starts out strong this year. These kids deserve the best!

The students in my school come from low income families.

We are a Title One school. 90% of the children receive reduced or free lunches. A large portion of the children are from broken homes. Our school is dedicated to inspiring kids and teachers to excellence. We live in Oklahoma, in an area that was affected by the tornadoes. The students face many challenges, such as poverty, broken homes, rebuilding from tornado destruction, and many times, lack of parent involvement.

My Project

These math manipulatives will be used in small groups and in large group settings. They will help math concepts to be more concrete for the children. Having a solid foundation in math is critical for education, and we do not have very many in our classroom. We will be using the clocks in whole group to learn to tell time. The pencil sharpener will replace the one that quit working last year. It sharpens all our pencils that we use on our daily math facts! The multiplication game will help the children get individual practice on math facts in centers and the fraction chart will help them to relate percentages to fractions and decimals. We need the 3D shapes to help the students see examples of shapes as we discuss them. All these activities will help math become more concrete for the students.

The students in my school's community are from low income families.

We are also in the area that was affected by an F5 tornado. Our entire community is working to rebuild. The students face many challenges ahead, and these manipulatives will help me to give them a great education. Scores in math will improve when the children have more concrete learning.
