  • Replace Our Bulletin Boards!

    Funded Mar 30, 2015

I can't thank you enough for the help with replacing our bulletin boards. After the flood in my room, our school was hit with a tornado. What bad luck! The items I received came after we moved buildings and were put into storage. We are just now being able to use them, and they have been such a wonderful help in decorating after moving back into our building. My side of the building has been redone and the side that was totally destroyed is now being rebuilt.

When the students saw the Christmas decorations they were overjoyed. We have a Title One school, and some of my students do not even have a Christmas tree at home. I can't wait to use the penguins for January and the hearts for Valentine's Day. The look on the students' faces is priceless. Thank you for helping make my room a happy place for children to come and learn.”

    With gratitude,

  • An iPad to Connect with the World!

    Funded Apr 23, 2015

Thank you so very much for the iPad for our class. My students are so excited to use it as a reward for good behavior. We have several online programs that are being used in our school, and we have several school contests going on. The students get very excited when they have the opportunity to use the iPad. It is helping in reading and Math so much!

Our school has just begun using Achieve 3000 with our students and it is helping them gain so much in reading! Students are able to read nonfiction stories, which will prepare them for testing.

Many of our children are begging for time so that they can win the contest.

The other program we use regularly is Reflex Math. This is helping them learn their math facts, which is essential to their growth in math. Without your donation, none of this would be possible in my classroom, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Science Supplies for Mrs. D!

    Funded Sep 10, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous gift to my class! We have already started using the science items in our Science block. Last week, we learned about light, and used the prism. The kids were so excited to see how it broke up light and made a rainbow! We also used the color glasses to see how colors can be blended together to make secondary colors. We are looking forward to using all the other new items that you helped us to get in our class. And none of this would have happened without your help! Thank you for making Science education fun!”

  • Math Manipulatives for Mrs. D

    Funded Sep 9, 2013

Thank you so much for your kind gift to my class! We have already been using the clocks to learn how to tell time. The kids loved them! The pencil sharpener is the best one that I've ever had. When you sharpen 48 pencils every day, you need a great one! We have just begun working on fractions, and will be using the fraction match game in the near future. Multiplication begins soon, as well as shapes, and we have all these great manipulatives to use, thanks to you!

We appreciate your kindness so much.”

  • Organization for Mrs. D!

    Funded Sep 11, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous gift to our class. The storage organizer is being put to great use. It helped me organize the first half of the year, and I am in the process of getting all my ducks in a row for the second half of the year. Without the organizer, it would be chaos with all my papers. I can find everything in one place!

As I am completing lessons, I am organizing them into storage bins for easy access for years to come. What a relief it is to be able to find things easier! Thank you so much for helping me find a place for everything that has been donated to our school since the tornados. It is all such a great benefit to these wonderful kids.”

  • Document Camera Needed for Kids in Poverty!

    Funded May 11, 2012

I can't thank you enough for providing a document camera for my classroom. We use it every day! It has changed the way that I teach, because it has made it easy for me to demonstrate concepts right on the paper for my students. We use it in math, reading, spelling, and art.

The document camera has been the most helpful in our math program. My students are learning borrowing in subtraction. I am able to put the math paper right under the document camera, and they can easily see the problem as I work through it with them. It saves time because I'm not having to write problems on the board with messy chalk. It also helps with behavior. I can face the students while I write, and the image is projected onto the screen.

A wonderful way this has helped has been in our art program. We only have one art book for our class! I have been able to put the book up under the document camera, and the students can all view the pictures together at once. What a huge help! None of this would have been possible without your help.”

  • Art Lessons for the Underprivileged

    Funded Oct 30, 2012

Thank you so much for donating the art supplies to my students! We have already received the supplies and are hard at work. We are entering a "Reflections" art contest. We painted fall turkeys with warm colors and painted the background in cool colors. We read about "Tacky the Penguin", and then we made penguins. The kids are so excited and were amazed at all the paint colors that we have to choose from.

Last year, my students were tested in art, but we did not have the supplies for them to experience much of it. This year, the students will get to experience texture, color, line, tint, shade, and so much more, thanks to your generosity!

With your help, I am also able to have extended activities that go along with our reading, science, and social studies curriculum. These art supplies will have a big impact on our students, so I want you to know how much we appreciate your help.”

  • White Boards Help Kids in Poverty

    Funded Sep 26, 2011

I can't thank you enough for the gift you gave my third grade classroom. We are using our whiteboards every single day for math problems, writing sentences, games, and more. I was able to send home my home-made flimsy versions so the kids could use them at home, and these white boards will last for years in my class.

When the package first arrived, the kids were so excited! They couldn't wait to begin using them. We have used them every day since. Many of the children's parents never bought them dry erase markers, even though it was on their list. So having some extras in my order made it to where everyone gets a turn all the time to practice in class. When I say, "Get out your white boards", the response is always a big cheerful, "Yes!!"

You generosity has impacted 22 wonderful kids this year, and many more in the future. Learning their math facts will help them throughout their entire lives, and these kids need every little bit of extra help to be successful. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chastain
