Because of the donated backpacks and flashlights, students arrived at camp feeling prepared, confident, and excited. For many of my students who come from low-income families, having these items provided for them removed a financial burden from their families and helped them feel included alongside their classmates.\r\nThe backpacks allowed students to carry their packets, water bottles, and materials during outdoor lessons and hikes, keeping them organized and ready to learn throughout the day. The flashlights were especially helpful during evening activities and when traveling between cabins and learning areas after dark on our night hike, helping students feel safe and comfortable.\r\nMost importantly, these supplies helped students focus on the true purpose of camp—learning about nature, working together as a team, and building independence. Because of this project, my students were able to fully participate in the outdoor education experiences at Camp Classen and create memories that will last a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1765603731215,"projectUrl":"project/camp-classen-essentials-for-low-income-s/9948008/","projectTitle":"Camp Classen Essentials for Low-Income Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Minor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10217198_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y397&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755894936178","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10217198"},{"teacherId":7494118,"projectId":9930451,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom by funding snacks for our students. Because of you, our students now have alphabet play dough mats and dry erase boards that have already brought energy, creativity, and confidence into our daily learning.\r\nWe are using these new resources during our literacy and word-building time. Students shape letters with play dough on the alphabet mats, then practice writing the same letters on their dry erase boards. Recently, we worked on building and sounding out simple CVC words (like \"cat\" and \"map\"). Students formed the letters with play dough, arranged them to make a word, and then wrote the word on their boards. It was wonderful to see them make the connection between hands-on play and reading.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless! Many of them lit up with excitement, saying things like, \"We get to use play dough for learning?\" and \"This is so much fun!\" Even students who are usually hesitant during writing activities jumped right in with enthusiasm.\r\nAs our next step, we will use these same materials to build more complex words. Students will create words with play dough, check them on their boards, and then use those words to eventually make a short written sentence.
