This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will be starting my new journey as a special education teacher this coming school year after teaching 1st grade- 3rd grade general education. Teaching students of various education backgrounds in general education has provided me with the knowledge of tools that best serve students in order to make math equally accessible. Math manipulatives are used in special education to assist students because they provide a hands-on, visual way to understand abstract mathematical concepts. Manipulatives help transform abstract ideas into tangible objects, making it easier for students to grasp complex concepts. They make learning more interactive and engaging, especially for those that struggle with traditional methods. Manipulatives can be easily adapted to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, providing a customized learning experience.
