My Students

Students in my district have several challenges both in and out of school to overcome. Many come from low-income families where supports and resources are limited. Therefore, students do not have books, internet, or help at home with their education. As a result, they are often behind In foundational skills (reading and basic math operations) needed to master new content. Therefore, students are at a disadvantage compared to other peers in different areas. I want to provide them the necessary opportunities that all children should have access to in life.

My Project

We need multiplication tools such as a math wall clock, multiplication master electronic flash card, multiplication curtain and a spinning wheel to improve fact mastery and application of times tables. Students would benefit from a multiplication curtain because they can practice number sense activities such as skip counting by different factors and finding multiples of different factors. In addition, students can practice multiplication and division facts on a spinning wheel to remain engaged and excited to learn facts.

Multiplication is a critical area for third grade; therefore, by having these tools in the classroom students are provided multiple opportunities to master multiplication facts in a fun and creative way.

Moreover, students will also benefit from the electronic multiplication flashcard tool because the device is handheld and incorporates fluency with rate and accuracy of facts. As a result, the use of these tools promotes the mindset that learning Math can be fun!
