My Students
Has math always been a struggle for you? Math drives me crazy! My students come to me below grade level with various disabilities. They include cognitive and processing delays, as well as hearing impairment. Most students learn more effectively with interactive games and hands-on manipulative materials.
I teach two fourth grade math classes divided by ability in an urban school district.
Many students have behavior problems that disrupt teacher instruction and would benefit from an interactive way of teaching. The classroom is a diverse mix of students and they learn in many different ways. Some are visual learners, others are tactile or hands-on, and some react well to a reward system. They like to work with a partner or in a small group when given the opportunity.
My Project
With these resources my students will gain a keener understanding of fractions, geometry, multiplication, and graphing concepts. These games are super engaging with challenging concepts and will provide fun practice for the students. The interactive nature of these games will cut down on disruptions in the class and promote self-motivation toward both individual and group learning. These resources will satisfy the various learning styles in my classroom. For example, the jeopardy game is played in a TV game format.
Overall, these materials will lead to academic success in the classroom.
The math quiz game show (jeopardy) and math skills folder game library I have requested will enable me to provide an engaging, interactive, and a fun way to learn math!
It will help students achieve higher math scores on classroom and state tests. These games will help reinforce math skills no matter what their learning style and lead to less classroom disruption.
