This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the leaders of tomorrow. The challenges they face today will prepare them for the achievements they will strive to make in their lives, their communities and their world, in the future. They and their families inspire me to face any and all obstacles with energy, joy, and hope. They come to school, daily, determined to learn all they can. Putting time and resources into my students is an investment for a bright and promising future for us all.

My Project

Manipulatives and models such as base ten magnets will help to make concepts stick. Numbers will take concrete forms and will not be so abstract in my students’ young minds. I will use the models and manipulatives in both whole and small groups. I will use the sequencing materials in literacy centers to help English Language Learners. Students will practice skills cooperatively or with partners. Aside from giving students easier access to the 2nd grade curriculum, students will also develop a sense of community as they use the materials together. Learning will come alive with these concrete models and manipulatives.
