My Students

My 7th and 8th grade students are inquisitive and hard-working students who have an innate desire to explore, create, and communicate while learning. We are a STEM focused magnet school that serves the students of Bridgeport, CT as well as 7 of the surrounding suburban districts. Our students are selected via a lottery system and we are a thriving, culturally and ethnically diverse community with involved and caring parents. My goal as their math teacher is to improve their number sense, provide opportunities for them to discuss their thinking with their peers, and help guide them to use 21st technology with efficiency and responsibility.

My Project

Students want to be engaged in fun, hands-on, math games that give students an opportunity to practice their math content while also being social with their friends. These games will give my students additional math support disguised as indoor recess games. Additionally, I have added some Barbie dolls for a Barbie bungee project so that I have some dolls that are representative of my student population. Finally, I have included some professional development books to improve my personal math teaching practices in the new age of covid learning and engagement.
