This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Each morning we start off our day with a chant. The teacher says, "Alright, alright, alright!!" and the students respond by saying, "We're going to learn something today!!" Every day is a new, exciting, and engaging day. By the end of the year, my hope is that my students gain a love for learning.
My school is a high poverty school, and 100% of the students are on free lunch.
My students are usually not exposed to many things outside of their neighborhood; but with the subscriptions to DynaMath magazine, my students will be able to be exposed to new Common Core math vocabulary. My students also need to know that learning can be fun and exciting, and that's what the math games will do for them.
My Project
With the requested math games, students will be able to learn while having fun! The games will be used to reinforce Common Core concepts during guide math stations and while working in small groups.
The requested subscriptions to DynaMath magazine will bring literacy and math together! It will allow students to see how reading and math work together instead of isolating the two subjects. Students will use the subscriptions in small guided math and guided reading stations.
This project will benefit my students by fostering and enhancing my students' love and passion for math.
Often times students develop a dislike for math because reinforcing concepts are usually done with worksheets or boring math problems. However with these math games, concepts can be reinforced with fun, engaging activities which will enhance students' learning.
