Math Is NO PROBLEM When It Is Hands-On

My Students

My students are amazingly creative, hardworking, and inquisitive children who come from varying backgrounds. Students in my 2nd grade class include children from single-parent households, grandparents raising their grandchildren, children of immigrants, and children of migrant workers who will have to leave us to follow the crops. Over 75% of the students at our school qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Keeping learning authentic and engaging is so important with my amazing students.

My students love school, are excited about learning, and are even more excited to show what they know!

My Project

Math doesn't have to be tedious! It should be fun and engaging!

Games are the perfect way for students to learn math and have fun at the same time.

Playing games encourages strategic mathematical thinking as students find different strategies for solving problems and deepen their understanding of numbers.

Materials like cardstock, laminating sheets, and a paper cutter will allow me to create math games that my students can use again and again. Timers, counters, and dice will make those games interactive and fun. Visual aids like 120 Boards and foam fractions will help students to see relationships in math. Answer buzzers will help us to create gameshow-like competitions with math games.
